Theater Krzyk („krzyk” means „the scream” in Polish) is an independent theater group founded in 2002 in Maszewo in north-west Poland. In 2007, the theater became a non-governmental organization. For over twenty years, theater has developed its own work method and has created ten performances. All of them have been presented in Poland and other countries and received many prizes at the festivals.

Performances

Initially, the group used to create pieces conveying very strong social messages. The first plays Nowadays, the plays concentrate on more universal content, like human relationships, so it makes the plays very popular also among the international audience.

Workshops

 

For over two decades of practice, the group members have created their own technique, based on the group interactions and physical training. The basic idea of the workshop is to create a group, where all members can share their personal experience and improve their social skills or attention. 

The theater led hundreds of such workshops with very different groups like children, youth, actors, senior citizens, prisoners or refugees from Syria, Chechnya or Ukraine. Each workshop is very unique and depends on members´ possibilities and expectations.

Activities

Krzyk does not only produce its own pieces, but it pays a lot of attention to informal education and community engagement. Since 2006, the group has organized many festivals, concerts, social, educational and ecological projects that involved the local community. 

Morevoer, the group has a lot of experience in international cooperation. Since 2006 Teatr Krzyk has been anorganizer or has taken part in a lot of international projects and ventureslike festivals, art and social projects, youth exchanges, workshops and many more,that took place in different countries. For instance, Teatr Krzyk worked in Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Albania, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, France, Italy, Latvia, Romania. Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Teatr Krzyk showed performances or led workshops in a lot of Ukrainian cities.
